PhD I accepted Jesus Christ as my Lord and Savior at age 19 after a long period of feeling lonely and unfulfilled as an agnostic. Since then, I have sought His guidance and direction in my life, both personally and professionally. I felt a strong desire and sense of calling to become a psychologist while still in high school. After graduating with my BS in psychology (2002) from Arkansas State University, I moved to Utah in order to further my education. I graduated with my Ph.D. in clinical psychology from Brigham Young University in 2008. I completed my year of pre-doctoral internship at the Utah State Hospital. Currently, I am licensed as a Psychology Resident in the State of Utah. I joined SSCCC staff in September 2008. My official position is Psychology Resident under the supervision of Rob Pramann, PhD My special interests include extreme/excessive personality styles, working with the elderly, and depression and anxiety. Much of my experience has included conducting psychological assessments and treatment of extreme/excessive mercurial and adventurous personality styles (Borderline Personality Disorder and Antisocial Personality Disorders) and developmental disorders. General practice areas include individuals from adolescence to aged, within the scopes of individual psychotherapy, group psychotherapy, and educational interventions. I am interested in working with couples and family psychotherapy modalities. My way of working with people is a result of my training and experience (which tends to prioritize focusing on thinking and behavior to bring change), as well my distinctively Christian viewpoint using spiritual resources and practices. My overarching aim is to approach clients in a holistic manner, addressing thoughts, feelings, behaviors, biology, and spirituality. I grew
up in the South—what some people affectionately call the “Bible
belt.” I consider myself a non-denominational Christian, and recognize
I have been strongly influenced by my Church of Christ background. I participate
in several volunteer activities where I worship. I help distribute food
as part of the Community Food Co-Op, assist others in preparing congregation-wide
events (like bridal showers and pot-lucks), visit and assist those who
are elderly/physically ill, and help address other needs as they arise.
