I
grew
up in a Christian home and accepted Christ as my Lord and Savior at
the age of eight. During my rebellious high school years I began seeking
my
own way. After many years of doing what "I" thought was best
I rededicated
myself to Him and truly began pursuing God¹s will for my life at
the age of
30.
I received my Bachelors in
Communications from the University of Utah in
1992. Shortly after graduating I entered the corporate world through
telecommunications where I consulted with businesses on their communication
needs. I eventually became a corporate trainer for sales and service.
After
the rededication of my life to God¹s will, He led me to pursue and
embrace
my true passions in life; my family and counseling. I became a stay-at-home
mom in 2002 and a full time clinical counseling student in 2003.
I am
now a Certified Professional Counselor Intern working towards obtaining
my 4000 clinical hours for licensure. I am practicing under the supervision
of Rob
Pramann, Ph.D.,
Clinical Director, of Shepherd¹s Staff Christian
Counseling Center. I graduated with honors May of 2007 from the University
of Phoenix
with a Masters of Science in Counseling/Mental Health Counseling.
I am currently a member of the American
Association of Christian Counselors,
American Counseling Association,
and Utah Mental Health Counseling
Association.
My therapeutic approach combines
cognitive-behavioral work which helps
individuals examine, acknowledge and restructure thoughts and actions
as
needed while taking into consideration a family systems approach which
looks
at the important relationships within the individuals interpersonal life.
I
hold a Christian world view, however I believe in individualized treatment
and am considerate of the needs of each of my clients and their spiritual
frames of reference. I take into account each individual¹s uniqueness
and
tailor the therapy to meet their specific needs appreciating the spiritual,
physical, cognitive, and emotional aspects of human behavior. My approach
is
holistic and focuses on the health and well-being of the individual. General
practice areas include adults, adolescents and children providing
individual, couple, family, and group counseling services. My special
interests include marriage/couple, teens, women's issues, psychological
trauma, and family/parenting.
I am an active member of an
Evangelical Free Church where I have served in a
variety of ministries including teen Bible study leader, service project
coordinator, small group committee member, AWANA leader, women¹s
Bible study
participant and leader and adult facilitator of the high school leadership
team.
I enjoy my life as a wife,
mom, and counselor. My approach to counseling is
the same one I use in my personal relationships; respect, care, concern,
authenticity, with an appreciation for the uniqueness of each relationship.
In my free time I enjoy playing tennis, skiing, golfing, camping, dates
with
my husband and goofing off time with my kids.
