Jerry Budd, MC
Licensed Associate Marriage & Family Therapist
Office Ext. 27, Office Locations: Magna, Sandy, and Park City

My awareness of God’s touch on my life began as a youngster; however, I did not receive Christ as my Lord and Savior until I was a senior in high school. The Baptism in the Holy Spirit occurred as I became more aware of the need for a deeper relationship with Jesus Christ.

Following graduation from high school, I attended San Diego State University for 2 years, completed service in the California National Guard, and returned to Nevada Southern University (now UNLV), graduating with a degree in Secondary Education in 1965. My desire to become a clinical counselor led me to return to the University of Phoenix to complete my MC in 1999. I worked as a clinical counselor, primarily with adolescents and adults, for 5 years in California prior to coming to Utah. Prior to coming to CCCU, I worked as a therapist in the Salt Lake County Jail and Valley Mental Health. I am licensed as an Associate Marriage and Family Therapist currently under the supervision of Kent D. McDonald, MS, Licensed Marriage & Family Therapist, and Rob Pramann, PhD, Clinical Director of Christian Counseling Centers of Utah..

My special interests include therapy and spiritual gifts, the addiction process, 12-step programs, adolescent challenges, criminal justice, spiritual growth, and healing of the whole person. General practice specialty areas include adults, adolescents and children, individual, couple/marriage, and family systems development.

I have had training in Integrating faith based principles with clinical mental health issues, substance abuse prevention, domestic violence, 12-Step work, and correctional mental health. My therapeutic orientation is primarily focused on what is happening in life right now and real life events which affect day to day functioning as well as influencing the way my clients see their world. I utilize therapeutic models as indicated for specific situations, including but not necessarily limited to holistic treatments, family systems viewed through experiential conceptualizations, and a special emphasis on developing a desire for building solutions. It is my belief that learning to tolerate differences, making realistic choices and developing self responsibility to increase the possibility of change, as well as maintaining the gains achieved in therapy, are crucial for progress in the therapeutic process.

My personal life has been a learning and experiential process with successes and seeming failures. The failures have become opportunities to teach myself the best path, the one that works for attaining goals I’ve set to reaching spiritual maturity. Jesus Christ has been the prime mover in that process, and He never fails. I am pleased that my wife has found an opportunity to work with World Outreach, a missions agency. I have served in various ministries at The Fellowship, including involvement with small group ministries, evangelism, teaching, and ushering. I enjoy mountain biking, camping, travel, reading, and walking. (more-vita)
